Lately when we've been out walking in the evenings through the forest and up to the cliffs I've begun to feel that we are kinda trespassing on someone (or something) else's territory. Nature is reclaiming...blooms and foliage are more abundant than before, birds are more vocal, branches snap, there are rustles in the undergrowth and the feeling that you are being watched. It's beautiful, but as the darkness descends...I won't lie, it's a little unnerving. A land barely touched by humans, but inhabited by something else...I now understand why banshees and fairies were so quickly accepted by previous generations, especially in the countryside. These days it seems perfectly plausible.

It reminds me a lot of the print I created a few years ago for Bloom Festival in Phoenix Park, as part of a collaboration with incredible garden designer Leonie Cornelius for the Irish Wheelchair Association. I was inspired by the Victorian language of flowers and mythology, looking into the symbolism of the flowers and amazing little creatures found in gardens. I used flowers that symbolised the different impressions I took away from an amazing visit to the IWA in Dublin....what the IWA provides for their members, as well as the characteristics I saw in many of the people I met that day. I feel that during the past few months these characteristics have become even more important and valued in all our lives and society as a whole. This season I’ve revisited the print, reimagined at midnight.
